This month, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible individuals who help sustain Emerald Ark's work — and to share an honest look at where we are and where we hope to grow.
Currently, most of our volunteers support Emerald Ark remotely, and their contributions are significant and deeply valued. From grant writing and medical research proposals to website support, digital communications, and administrative assistance, these volunteers help move critical projects forward behind the scenes.
Lucie, based in England (across the pond), assists with grant writing and document preparation. We have dedicated website volunteers supporting our online presence, as well as volunteers helping with letters of inquiry and science-based grant submissions.
Lucie loves our work with cats.
Their efforts directly impact our ability to secure funding and expand our work.
We’ve also had local volunteers in the past. For example, one volunteer created beautiful custom daybed covers for Oreo: (A BIG THANKYOU to Sandy for making these beautiful daybed covers for Oreo.)
Other past local contributions include a volunteer who helped establish Emerald Ark’s presence at the Idlewild Farmers Market on Sundays:
We had our booth at the Farmer's Market all because of Mega. Her enthusiasm and passion made it happen!
And others who assisted with preparing dog and cat food. At present, however, we do not have consistent on-site volunteer support.
The reality is that there is far more work to be done than one person can manage alone. Additional volunteer involvement would dramatically strengthen Emerald Ark’s capacity, both locally and remotely.
Opportunities to Make an Impact
We are seeking volunteers who are ready to take ownership of a defined area, learn necessary tools, and provide consistent support over time. Examples of roles include:
• Board members — We have a working board. If you have experience or skills in accounting, fundraising, digital systems, marketing, SEO, sponsorship development, communications, or nonprofit management — or are eager to learn — your involvement could make a substantial difference.
• A backup team member willing to learn and manage KIT, our newsletter platform
• SEO support to increase visibility and reach
• Assistance contacting companies to request product donations (starting with phone outreach, followed by emails and follow-up if needed)
• A committed volunteer interested in learning sponsorship acquisition tools and actively securing partnerships
• Continued support with grant writing, research, and proposal development
Can't volunteer your time? Support us by donating on a monthly basis. Help us continue to expand our programs.
Each of these roles directly supports EA’s sustainability and growth. These are not
