Emergencies can happen when we least expect them—storms, power outages, wildfires, or even extreme heat. The best way we can care for our furry and feathered companions is by being prepared. This month, we’re focusing on emergency pet care and disaster readiness—because when we plan ahead, we protect the ones who depend on us most.

​Holistic Emergency Kits for Pets

Your pet’s go-bag should cover the basics—food, water, and medical records—but adding holistic touches can support them emotionally and physically during stressful times:

• Rescue Remedy or calming sprays to ease stress and anxiety.
• Aroma therapy lavender oil can help soothe and relax your pet during stressful moments (add a few drops to a small piece of fabric and tie to collar).
• Coconut oil for minor cuts, scrapes, or skin soothing.
• Natural flea & tick spray (safe for pets).
• Favorite comfort item—a toy, blanket, or perch to help them feel safe.

Oreo’s Road to Recovery: How You Can Help

Many of you have been following Oreo’s journey, and thanks to your ongoing support. After arriving needing specialized care, Oreo has begun showing signs of strength and improvement, and we’re ready to take the next steps in her rehabilitation.

We’ve received the estimate for Oreo’s next set of diagnostic vet consultations, and we need $2,000 to continue her treatment. It's important to remember that supporting Oreo's healing journey does so much more than helping this small dog. Helping Oreo walk again will serve as an inspiration to the millions of people across the US who are now suffering with degenerative disc disease or spinal cord injury. Oreo will be demonstrating the value that complementary healthcare can provide to everyone. This fee covers a comprehensive assessment to determine if she is a good candidate for stem cell therapy. An evaluation from a local veterinary physical therapist(PT) and begin therapy. Her local holistic vet tells us PT is essential for rebuilding her atrophied muscles. She also needs bloodwork to recheck her liver enzyme value, to ensure they are approaching normal, re-evaluate her antibiotic-resistant UTI and if still present she will need a procedure that involves her being sedated and flushing her urinary tract.

With your help, we can continue Oreo’s treatment protocols: laser therapy—all aimed at helping her regain mobility, reduce discomfort, and thrive for dog and dog lovers alike.

Did You Know? Pets can sense natural disasters before we do! Some animals become restless, hide, or vocalize more before storms or earthquakes. Paying attention to their signals can help you act quickly. In fact one African Grey Parrot, living in California, could sense earthquakes and hung upside down inside his cage to warn and alert his care giver.
