Can you believe it’s almost halfway through 2025? Neither can we! We have some important updates and some prompts about things we want to hear from you!

Oreo’s Recovery Journey: Hope, Healing & Holistic Support

This journey has been a wonderful and inspiring journey to us all. Despite “traditional” veterinarians labeling her as paralyzed, we have come to see that she is doing her best to regain certain actions. During her potty walks with Leslie, when her rear end is supported in the sling to keep her toes from dragging on the ground, she instinctively pulls her legs into a normal squatting position to relieve herself. She wags her tail and has increasing control of her urinary tract system. Holding her urine for several minutes, as she is guided (in the sling) from her doggy day bed to the backyard demonstrates a complicated message exchange between her brain, spinal cord and bladder. Additionally, during her daily physical therapy when Leslie massages her rear legs, we see responses in her muscles. These are all clear signs that her spinal cord is very much alive!

Did you know the spinal cord is protected by three layers of specialized tissues called meninges, that also help safeguard the brain, making up the central nervous system (CNS)? As you can guess, it is of vital importance to the body, no matter if you’re a human and cute, little 4 legged animal!

Helping Oreo regain the use of her rear legs is, and will be, an ongoing healing journey, and it requires the love and support of our compassionate Northern Nevada animal loving community.

We also want to say a huge thank you to MYOS for donating their Canine Muscle Formula to help Oreo on her healing journey!

With the help of this MYOS supplement, we’re giving her the nutritional support she needs to rebuild strength and mobility.

We’re so grateful for this generous donation and can’t wait to share her progress with you soon!
